Boston 1 is a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) charitable organization that has continuously operated and grown, since its founding in 2013, into a diverse elite club focusing on fostering and promoting the sport of dragon boat in the Greater Boston community. We build community inclusively by welcoming anyone from the public interested in trying out the sport. Since 2013, we have welcomed over 500 people into the Boston 1 family. Our former and current members represent the diverse Boston community: locals from New England, transplants from across the United States, and international members from Canada, Mexico, China, India, Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, Vietnam, France, and the list goes on. Our ages range from 18 to 50+, and we are researchers, students, engineers, designers, healthcare providers, entrepreneurs, social workers, economists, musicians, and more. The Boston 1 team is a model of bringing people together from different cultures and backgrounds as part of the city’s rich multicultural community of which we are so proud.
“Medals are won during races, but are earned during the off season”
We proudly wear the Boston skyline in our team logo and have represented the city internationally – including at the Club Crew 2018 World Championships in Hungary, the Pan American Club Crews 2017 Championships in Puerto Rico, and the Montreal Dragon Boat Challenge in 2017, and in many regional festivals throughout the northeastern USA.
